Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman encountered a potentially severe injury during a training session with the Bangladesh Premier League’s (BPL) franchise, Comilla Victorians, at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on February 18 (Saturday). He was struck on the head by a ball hit by his teammate Liton Das and promptly taken to the hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

During the nets session, Mustafizur Rahman was said to be returning to his bowling mark when he was hit on the back of his head by a shot from Liton Das. The impact caused bleeding, and he received immediate on-field medical attention, including the application of ice.

A video of the incident has surfaced on social media, capturing the moment when players hurried towards Mustafizur after he was hit on the head. In the footage, the Bangladesh left-arm pacer can be seen receiving on-ground treatment with the application of ice before being stretchered off the field.

Mustafizur Doubtful For BPL 2024 Matches

The extent of the injury is currently uncertain, but he was deemed unfit to continue training and was transported to the emergency unit at Imperial Hospital for a thorough assessment.

There is uncertainty regarding Mustafizur Rahman's availability, as no Bangladesh Premier League matches are scheduled for today. However, his participation in tomorrow's match for the Comilla Victorians against the Sylhet Strikers, as well as potential future BPL fixtures, is now in question.

The incident has raised concerns among fans and team management. Mustafizur Rahman is a key player for both the Victorians and the Bangladesh national team, and his absence would be keenly felt.

"During practice a ball hit directly at the left parietal area (head) of Mustafizur Rahman. There was an open wound at his parietal area and we have worked with compression bandage to stop bleeding and immediately shifted him to Imperial hospital," a media release issued by team physio SM Zahidul Islam Sazal stated as per Cricbuzz.

"After CT scan we are satisfied that he's had only an external injury. There was no Intra-Cranial bleeding. Now surgical team has given him stitches to treat the open wound. Now he is under close supervision of Comilla Victorians team physio," the report added.
