However, while Suresh Raina has retired from all forms of cricket and features only in 'Legends' franchise cricket matches, MS Dhoni is still playing at the highest level, as he is currently playing for Chennai Super Kings in Indian Premier League. The duo spent their IPL career at Chennai Super Kings, where they won 4 titles together (2010; 2011; 2018; 2021) and won two ICC trophies with India (ODI World Cup 2011; Champions Trophy 2013).
The left-handed all-rounder from Uttar Pradesh mentioned in his autobiography that his friendship with MS Dhoni started way back in Duleep Trophy 2005, and ever since, the duo have played alongside each other for 16 years.
Raina had also mentioned that he and Dhoni had pre-discussed their retirement day, as their jersey numbers were 7 (Dhoni) and 3 (Raina), and that, Ausgut 15, 2020 marked 73 years of Independence, which, in his words, "could not have been a better day than that for retirement".
