MS Dhoni, the former Indian men's cricket team captain, has been appointed as the brand ambassador for the forthcoming assembly elections in Jharkhand. The global cricket icon has given the Election Commission consent to use his photo for the assembly elections. The same was confirmed in a statement by Chief Electoral Officer K Ravi Kumar.
"Mahendra Singh Dhoni has given his consent to the Election Commission to use his photo. We are in touch with him for other details. Mahendra Singh Dhoni will work for the mobilization of voters," Kumar said at a press conference in Ranchi on Friday (October 25).
With Dhoni being a popular figure, it is being learnt that the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) star wll be engaged in activities to increase awareness among voters under the Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SWEEP) programme. His mass appeal is being banked on by the poll body to encourage voters to vote in greater numbers.

A sum total of forty-three constituencies will have elections in the first phase of the Assembly polls on November 13 with the filing of nominations getting completed on Friday (October 25). Former Chief Minister Champai Soren was among those who filed their nominations as the BJP candidate from Saraikela.
No Clarity On MS Dhoni's Future In The IPL
As far as Dhoni's cricketing future is concerned, the wicketkeeper-batter might have retired from international cricket in 2020, having last donned India colours in 2019, he continues to ply his trade in the IPL. However, there is no clarity yet on whether or not fans will be able to see him in action in IPL 2025.
If, however, Dhoni decided to play, he can be retained by CSK as an 'uncapped' player as he has not played a match for India since 2019.
