New Delhi: England cricket team led by Joe Root made shaky start against South Africa in the first Test match at the Lord’s on Thursday.

The hosts suffered early jolts and were four down before lunch, with skipper Joe Root and Vice-captain Ben Stokes on the crease trying to steady the ship.

England received a mini scare in the 47th over when Morne Morkel’s beauty went past Stokes’ pads to disturb the stumps. However, a front-foot no-ball cost Morkel the prized wicket of star all-rounder after having him clean bowled on 44.

Morne Morkel has added an unwanted record to his name. The tall pacer has now taken 13 wickets on no-balls, more than any other bowler in Test cricket history.

However, wickets off no-balls are not new to the game of cricket but it can add a lot to the outcome of the match. Recently, during Champions Trophy final between India and Pakistan, Fakhar Zaman edged to give Ms Dhoni an easy catch but over the line delivery from Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah gave him a life-line

Making the best of the opportunity, Zaman smashed 114 runs to guide Pakistan to mammoth 338 runs and eventually, Pakistan defeated India to lift their maiden Champions Trophy title.
