Team India's star pace bowler Mohammed Shami is all set for a comeback, fully recovered and ready to test batters with his trademark speed and accuracy. The veteran will soon mark his return by playing for Bengal in Ranji Trophy.

After a year away from cricket, Mohammed Shami is ready to make his comeback. Last seen in ODI World Cup 2023, Shami had been out with an injury but is now fully fit. He'll return to action playing for Bengal in their Ranji Trophy match against Madhya Pradesh, starting on Wednesday (November 13).

Will Mohammed Shami play IND vs AUS Border-Gavaskar Test series?

India is gearing up for a five-match Test series against Australia starting on November 22. If Mohammed Shami proves his fitness in the upcoming four-day Ranji Trophy match, he could be a contender for inclusion in India squad for Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Currently, the selection committee has named Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Siraj, Akash Deep, Prasidh Krishna, and Harshit Rana in the bowling department for IND vs AUS series, with Mukesh Kumar and Khalil Ahmed listed as reserves.

"In a major boost to Indian cricket and the Bengal Ranji Trophy team, star pacer Mohammad Shami will make a comeback into competitive cricket for Bengal against Madhya Pradesh in the Ranji Trophy Elite Group C match in Indore starting on Wednesday," Cricket Association of Bengal secretary, Naresh Ojha said in an official statement.

"Shami, who has been out of competitive action since India's ODI World Cup final in Ahmedabad last November, will spearhead the Bengal pace bowling attack against Madhya Pradesh. Shami's inclusion in the Bengal team will not just be a big boost but also lift the morale of the entire team, which aims to make it to the next round of the Ranji Trophy," the statement added.
