Mohammed Shami's brother Mohammed Kaif who is playing for the first time in Ranji Trophy and plying his trade for Bengal the same state for which Shami achieved great success, has managed to leave a mighty good early impression during Bengal's match against Uttar Pradesh at the iconic Green Park Stadium in Kanpur. Kaif only needed 5.5 overs which was enough for him emerge as the most successful bowler for Bengal on the day, returning with figures of 4 wickets for 15 runs.
With the help of Kaif's spell which was coupled with brilliant performances from Suraj Sindhu Jaiswal who picked 3 wickets for 20 runs and Ishan Porel who scalped 2 for 24, Bengal managed to bowl UP out for a paltry 60 in 20.5 overs in their first innings. In response, Bengal managed to take a first innings lead as they finished Day 1 at 95/5, already leading UP by 35 runs with Yash Dayal the unbeaten batter for the tourists.
Earlier, Shami had taken to social media to congratulate his brother for getting his Ranji Trophy cap.
"Finally after a long struggle, you got Ranji trophy cap for Bengal. Cheers!! Great Achievement !! Congratulations, I wish you a great future ahead! Give your 100% and Keep continuing hard work & do well (sic)," Shami said in his social media post.
