Mitch Marsh was playing a Sheffield Shield match for Western Australia against Tasmania, where he drove a return catch to Jackson Bird in the opening over of the last day to fall for 53. Marsh was so upset at himself that he punched a hole in the wall of the team's dressing room.
Scans revealed a fracture, and an apologetic Marsh said he faced up to six weeks out of cricket, ruling him out of the opening Test against Pakistan in Brisbane starting on November 21.
Marsh recently made a successful return to the Australian Test team during the Ashes in England and played the final Test in which he picked his maiden five-wicket haul, returning with 7 wickets in the match along with scores of 17 and 46 in a losing cause. Australia though, retained the Ashes after the series was drawn 2-2.
