Defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) secured a spot in the grand finale of the Indian Premier League Season 13 (IPL 2020) with a dominant 57-run win over Delhi Capitals (DC) in Qualifier played at Dubai International Stadium in Dubai.


Mumbai Indians' clinical win came on the back of an all-round performance with both the willow and white cherry. While it was the MI bowlers who bowled out DC for , their frontline batsman in Surya Kumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan and Quinton De Kock scored fiery knocks to help the team set a mammoth 200 run total.

In-form middle order batsman Suryakumar who scored  a quick-fire half ton for Mumbai Indians against Delhi Capitals in IPL 2020 Qualifier 1 registered as unique record in the IPL as he became the first ever uncapped Indian player to play 100 matches in the coveted T20 league.

Suryakumar also got to the 2000-run milestone in the IPL during his 51 knock of just 38 deliveries against Delhi Capitals. The free flowing right handed strokemaker has been in exceptional form scoring over 450 runs in the ongoing season. He has racked up 4 half tons and brought up his runs at a healthy average of 42.

Despite his stellar performances in both the Indian Premier League and domestic cricket for Mumbai, Surya was overlooked for national selection for India's upcoming tour of Australia.

Former Indian cricketers have hit out hard at the national selectors for not picking up Suryakumar for India's tour 'Down Under'. Meanwhile, India's head coach Ravi Shastri had urged Surya to remain patient and strong with the hope that he will get his chance to don the Blue Jersey sometime soon.
