Ahead of the two-match Test series against Pakistan, Australian cricketer Matt Renshaw suffered a blow on the helmet while fielding. The incident happened when Adib Ali struck a pull shot right towards Renshaw on Nathan Lyon’s delivery who was fielding at short leg, during day 2 of Australia’s practice game against Pakistan A.
The 22-year-old’s condition after copping with blow on Sunday, is now being monitored as he could walk off the filed with the team doctor. However, it is expected that Renshaw will not be able to take part in the remainder of the practice match where Australia ended Day 271 runs behind Pakistan A.
Talking about Renshaw's condition, Aaron Finch said, "He's okay. Obviously a pretty heavy knock to the head there but he's been with the medical staff all afternoon. He seems to be in really good spirits and is confident that his headaches are subsiding pretty quickly."
Pakistan A squad has agreed for Marnus Labuschagne to replace Renshaw in the playing XI, as the opening batsman will not be able participate in rest of the game.
The first Test match between Australia and Pakistan is scheduled to begin on October 7 and the second Test on October 16.
