Marnus Labuschagne has retired the bat he used to help Australia defeat tournament favourites India in the final of the ICC Men's ODI World Cup 2023 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on November 19 last year. Close to after nine months of what was a heartbreak to remember for ages for the Indian fans, Labuschagne took to social media and uploaded the picture of the bat saying it is ‘time to retire’ for the bat.
Labuschagne was one of the underrated contributors to Australia's World Cup victory. He delivered crucial performances in the middle order throughout the tournament and made a significant impact with his exceptional fielding.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram, Labuschagne posted the picture of the bat he used against India along with the caption, "Think it’s finally time to retire the World Cup final bat." The bat looks completely worn out with wood splices sticking out of the meat of the bat.

Head-Labuschagne Helped Australia Clinch 6th ODI World Cup Title
In the final, he played a crucial hand in Australia’s victory as India were in a favourable position to win the match after they got three early wickets in the second innings.
He came in to bat when Australia were 47-3 in the powerplay while chasing the target of 241 runs. Along with Travis Head, Labuschagne kept the Indian bowlers at bay as the likes of Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah were looking relentless.
Labuschagne played a knock of 58 runs off 110 balls while Travis Head did the most damage as he scored a stunning 137-run knock. The pair guided Australia to successfully chase down the target of 241 in just 43 overs, and win their record sixth ODI World Cup.
Labuschagne amassed 362 runs across ten innings during the ODI World Cup.
