LPL 2024: Kandy Falcons created history by registering a thumping 7-wicket win over Jaffna Kings and in the process, have created the record for the biggest chase in the league's history. With the win, Kandy Falcons have brought an end to Jaffna Kings' winning streak, as the latter fail to win their 4th successive game.

Dinesh Chandimal was the true architect of the chase, as his blistering 89 off 37 helped Kandy Falcons chase down the target with 10 balls remaining.

"Really happy about winning the game and I'm glad that I stood up for my team. It was about my mentality and keeping a positive attitude. I used my hands a bit and things worked for me today in the middle," said Chandimal during the post-match presentation ceremony, as he was awarded the Man of the Match award.

Pathum Nissanka's Record-Breaking Ton Goes In Vain

Pathum Nissanka broke the record for the highest individual score in the history of the league, as he scored 119 against the reigning champions. However, his valiant effort went in vain as Kandy Falcons registered a record-win and skipper Asalanka was extremely disappointed by conditions at the venue.

"I can't tell what is a good score on this pitch. We were short by 15 at least. It is a nightmare for bowlers. Very difficult to bowl in these conditions. Very flat pitch," said Charitra Asalanka during the post-match presentation ceremony.
