LPL 2024: Kandy Falcons opener Andre Fletcher scored a half-century against Galle Marvels on Sunday, July 7, but it was not just another fifty. This half-century means a lot to the Caribbean player as this feat marks his end of a unique streak and a drought altogether. The veteran is amongst the rarest players to score a century on his Lanka Premier League debut but that remarkable feat was his only 50+ score until today, as his streak of 0 fifties and 1 hundred comes to an end.

However, a valiant effort from Fletcher and Wanindu Hasaranga with the bat was not enough for reigning LPL champions, as Galle Marvels thumped the side by 6 wickets to hand them their third consecutive loss.

Here's What The Captains Said During Post-Match Presentation Ceremony

"It was a good toss to win and Isuru Udana bowled fantastic. I gave him one more over for that reason. Our batters know their strength and they did what they are good at. We wanted to take the bowlers on. Alex Hales and I tried to do that. We were successful in doing that and perhaps that was the highest run in powerplay in LPL!," said Niroshan Dickwella, Galle Marvels Captain.

"Thank you for appreciating the knock. I think we were 15-20 runs short. The ball was initially hanging but the wicket became better. Fletcher, Mathews and I batted well. We tried to bowl with discipline but failed to do so. If we had done that, it was defendable," said Wanindu Hasaranga, Kandy Falcons Captain.
