New Delhi: With the lockdown easing out and sporting activities allowed, it was just a matter of time before cricket resumed for the club cricketers. Several club cricketers participated in cricket matches, most friendly encounters, that is extremely popular over the weekend in Delhi NCR.
Ground in Najafgarh, renowned native for Virender Sehwag also saw it's piece of action on Saturday. Rajesh Guliya, who owns a ground in Najafgarh explained: " We ensured that players do not put any saliva or even sweat, even though it was allowed by ICC just as a precaution. In fact we made it very clear that no one will even share his water bottle and we provided each one their own bottle and made sure they sat at a distance and every bag and.player were sanitized," he says.
Sachin Dabas, who owns four clubs in outer Delhi near Mundka, said that he was flooded with requests to hold matches and hence he made arrangements.
According to Dabas, all players were screened for temperatures, players wore mask during fielding except when they were batting or bowling, all equipments were sanitized and were briefed about the new ICC guidelines, relating to social distancing while celebrating, ban on using saliva and others issues.
As many as six grounds in Delhi NCR hosted cricket matches as players and institutions looks towards resumption of sports activities. However, no official cricket activities have restarted with the BCCI taking it clear that they will only take a call after the lockdown ends on May 31
