Bangladesh star cricketer Litton Das celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi and took to his official social media handles to upload the pictures of him and his family celebrating the hindu festival on September 8 (Sunday). Interestingly, this comes amidst incidents of violence against the minorities in Bangladesh while the nation faces country-wide political unrest and turmoil. Bangladesh are also slated to tour India for two Tests and three T20Is, with the first IND vs BAN Test scheduled to begin from September 19.
Notably, after the fall of the Sheikh Hasina-led government in Bangladesh, the situation has become gravely difficult for minority communities, especially Hindus. Several media reports have highlighted atrocities committed against Hindus in the country like vandalism of Hindu temples, assault on women, arson attacks on homes and businesses.

Litton Das Celebrates Ganesh Chaturthi Amidst Violence Against Hindus in Bangladesh
Amidst this, Litton Das celebrated the Ganpati festival with his family, sharing photos of the celebration on Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) captioning the post, “May Lord Ganesha bestow you with power, destroy your sorrows, and enhance happiness in your life. Happy Ganesh Chaturthi.”
In one of the photos, Das can be seen lighting a diya before the the idol of lord Ganesh.
Bangladesh registered a historic series victory over Pakistan in a two-match away Test series. Das played one of his finest Test innings, scoring 138 off 228 balls with 13 fours and four sixes, which proved pivotal in Bangladesh's win in the second Test where Bangladesh faced a dire situation at 26/6 within 12 overs. However, Das's impressive innings helped Bangladesh post a respectable total in the first innings. Following the victory over Pakistan, Litton Das will travel to India where he is expected to play in both the Test and T20I series.
