New Delhi: Evin Lewis smashed unbeaten 125 runs to guide West Indies to victory against India at Sabina Park on Sunday.
Chasing 191 runs, Lewis opened innings with Chris Gayle and made an immediate impact. The right-arm batsman smashed whopping 12 sixes and 6 fours to score 125 runs in just 62 balls.
Evin Lewis became the only West Indian batsman to score two centuries against India. He did the same while chasing 244 in 2016 in Florida.
Chris Gayle, who returned to West Indies squad after one year, struggled to play big shots and was ultimately sent back to pavilion by leg-spinner Kuldeep Yadav.
Earlier, Wicket-keeper batsman DInesh Karthik and skipper Virat Kohli guided India to 190/6.
Having put in to bat first, Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan gave India a flying start, the duo stitched 64 runs for the first wicket. Indian skipper quick-fired 39 runs of just 22 deliveries, while Dhawan manged 23 off 12 balls, before getting involved in mix-up.
However, it was Dinesh Karthik who cashed in on solid start. The 32-year-old smashed 48 runs in just 28 deliveries and remained the top scorer for the visitors.
Youngster Rishabh Pant added 38 runs in 35 balls. Jerome Taylor got 2 for 31, dismissing Dhoni and Pant on successive deliveries.
