Former Indian cricketer and Chennai Super Kings' four-time IPL champion, Suresh Raina, is all set to lead the Urbanrisers Hyderabad team in the upcoming season of Legends League Cricket (LLC). This exciting tournament is scheduled to take place from November 18 to December 9, 2023, across five cities in India. The LLC features prominent cricketing legends and recently held its player draft at the iconic Qutub Minar in New Delhi.

The player draft event featured the selection of marquee players such as Aaron Finch, Robin Uthappa, Hashim Amla, Praveen Kumar, Ravi Bopara, Morne Morkel, and Kevin Pietersen. This season's LLC will feature six teams, boasting 200 players, and a total of 19 matches in various Indian cities, including Ranchi, Dehradun, Jammu, Vizag, and Surat.

The event at the historic Qutub Minar was a unique fusion of culture and sports, featuring a live band performance at the iconic site. The player draft ceremony was hosted by RJ Sammy and Yashika Gupta and attended by former Indian cricketers Suresh Raina, Nikhil Chopra, and Robin Singh. Chopra and Singh will serve as coaches for the Urbanrisers Hyderabad and Manipal Tigers teams, respectively.

In addition to Suresh Raina's leadership of the Urbanrisers Hyderabad, the team also secured the services of former New Zealand opener Martin Guptill and West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Smith. Other teams also made significant selections during the draft event. Harbhajan Singh will captain the Manipal Tigers, who also acquired the services of former Indian batter Robin Uthappa. Gautam Gambhir will lead the India Capitals, with Kevin Pietersen, Bharat Chipli, and Hashim Amla reinforcing their batting lineup.

The Southern Super Stars have added former Australia captain Aaron Finch, Bangladesh spinner Abdur Razzak, and Sri Lanka opener Upul Tharanga to their roster. The Gujarat Giants retained Parthiv Patel as captain and have already secured players like the Universe Boss Chris Gayle and Kevin O'Brien before the draft event. The team further bolstered their squad with picks like Liam Plunkett and S. Sreesanth.
