New Delhi: Former Indian skipper Virat Kohli's form has been under scanner for a while now. In the last two years, Kohli has not managed to score a single century in One Day International (ODI) matches. And his form in the recently concluded three-match ODI series against the West Indies was abysmal as he could only manage to score a total of 26 runs.

Despite his poor form, Kohli has received a strong backing from the team management and captain Rohit Sharma. This was evident in the pre-match virtual press conference held on Tuesday, ahead of the first T20I against West Indies.

During the press meet, Rohit Sharma while replying to a question from a reporter on Virat Kohli's form said, " Virat has been there since almost two decades and knows how to perform. Leave him alone and stop talking about him. "

Speaking on the question of experimenting with new talent or rotating players, Rohit said "Experiment is an Overused word and I want to give the cricketers enough security so that they can perform."

"There are lot of youngsters in the team and they need a sense of security in order to perform," he further added.

Rohit also said that IPL frenzy related to auctioning of players is over and the team should now get back and focus on their performance and playing for India.

"IPL emotions are over and cricketers have to realise for the next two weeks they have to perform for the blues," said Rohit during the press conference in Kolkata.

India and West Indies play a three-match T20I series starting Wednesday, February 16. All three matches will be played at the Eden Gardens Kolkata. India had defeated West Indies 3-0 in the recently concluded ODI series.
