KL Rahul In Or Out Of LSG?: As discussions around the Indian Premier League (IPL) season 2025 heat up, a major question remains whether the India wicketkeeper batter KL Rahul will be retained as the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain, or will he even be in the team anymore? There was a meeting between LSG’s owner Sanjiv Goenka and Rahul on August 26 (Monday) in Kolkata and now, Goenka is reportedly set to hold a press conference on August 28 (Wednesday). It is anticipated that KL Rahul’s future at LSG will be discussed in the conference.

According to a RevSportz report, Sanjiv Goenka is expected to hold a press conference on August 28 (Wednesday), likely to disclose details of his meeting with KL Rahul and make announcements regarding the franchise.

KL Rahul To Be Retained But Not As Captain?

Another report carried by news agency IANS suggests that KL Rahul is set to be retained by LSG but will not be the captain of the team.

As per the report, KL Rahul will be stepping down from the LSG captaincy to focus more on his batting. The new captain remains undecided, with Krunal Pandya and Nicholas Pooran being the top contenders for the role.

“Rahul is unlikely to captain the side in the upcoming edition as he wants to explore himself more as a batter. Goenka has full confidence in Rahul and he will be retained as a player, but will not be seen captaining the side. We are still exploring the captaincy option but with BCCI agreeing on player retention conditions we have two players (Krunal Pandya and Nicholas Pooran) in race,”  IANS quotes its sources as telling.
