As tributes keep on pouring in for retired Indian cricket legend Mahendra Singh Dhoni over his stellar contribution to Indian cricket, veteran Pakistan wicket-keeper batsman Kamran Akmal also joined the growing bandwagon to extend his adulation and respect to World Cup-winning skipper MS Dhoni, requesting for a major farewell like Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar for the former Indian captain.

"Such players should not go like this, he should get a standing ovation. He should get a farewell match where he goes from the ground, like the way the great Sachin Tendulkar went. He has gone just like his name Mr. Cool. Such a player comes rarely in world cricket," Akmal added.

MS Dhoni drew the curtains of a glittering international career spanning 16 years after he made an unexpected announcement of his retirement on Instagram on India's 7th Independence Day on August 15.

Lauding Dhoni's exceptional leadership skills under which India became a formidable cricketing power in all formats of the game, Akmal underlined Dhoni's ability to take along players both in thick and thin and added that he was an inspiration to most in the team with his own stellar exploits with the bat and the gloves.

"He was a player who took the team along. Doing captaincy is very easy, that I do captaincy and my place remains secure whether the team wins or losses, you have no concern. But Dhoni had this specialty that he was building the team and his own performance was also world-class. You can see the players he was creating, they are still No.1. He only wanted to do good for his country," Akmal told Paktv.tv.

Akmal said that Pakistan cricket team would immensely benifit if they had a captain like Dhoni who possessed the leadership skills and the forevision to build a team and take them to loftier heights. He also heaped praises on former Pakistani skippers Inzamam Ul Haq and Younis Khan, under whom the sub continent team had a fairly succesful run in international cricket.

"Such captains are very much required. We have seen Inzi Bhai and Younis Bhai, how they have carried the team along. MS Dhoni was destined to play for India and he did well for his nation. He is a great example in front of us. He has not only played cricket but built a team as well and taken the Indian in an upward direction. Such mentality should also be there in our captains," Akmal said.
