India find themselves on the backfoot in the five-match Test series against England. While they entered into the five-match Test series as the favourites, given their record in the purest format of the game and even found themselves at an advantageous position leading by 190 runs in the first innings. While it was Ollie Pope who starred with the bat for the Three Lions and scored a sensational 196 in the second innings, enabling England's comeback in the match, thereafter spinner Tom Hartley, who was on debut, picked up a seven-wicket haul in the second innings to help the visitors go 1-0 up in the series. Senior England batter Joe Root chipped in with scores of 29 and 2 in the two innings in Hyderabad but primarily managed to make his presence felt with his bowling, showing how he can play a decisive role ahead in the series.

Root though looks determined to come up with more significant scores with the bat and was seen practising a reverse-sweep while batting as a left-hander in the nets prior to the second Test match of the series in Visakhapatnam. The video of Root practicing at the nets ahead of the second Test match which begins on February 2 has surfaced online.
