Jay Shah New ICC Chairman: Jay Shah, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary, has been elected unopposed as the International Cricket Council (ICC) chairman. The news of Shah being elected for the ICC top job was confirmed on the last date of filing nominations on August 27 (Tuesday). With Shah set to take over as the chairman of the world cricket governing body, he becomes the fifth Indian to take the post after Jagmohan Dalmiya, Sharad Pawar, N Srinivasan and Shashank Manohar.

At 36, Jay Shah becomes the youngest-ever ICC chief. It would be interesting to see who takes up the BCCI Secretary role which gets vacated with Shah taking up the ICC opposition. ICC put out a tweet confirming Shah's election as the organisations's chair. Shah replaces Greg Barclay as the ICC President who had decided against serving another term. Barclay had taken charge as the ICC Chairman in 2020.






Who Will Replace Jay Shah At BCCI?


A report carried by news agency PTI had listed out possible candidates who can replace Shah. The piece suggests that the current BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla, BCCI treasurer Ashish Shelar and IPL chairman Arun Dhumal are the top candidates who can replace Shah as the BCCI Secretary.

Meanwhile, a Dainik Bhaskar report had suggested that Rohan Jaitley, President of the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA), was the frontrunner to replace Jay Shah in BCCI. However, a day later, news agency IANS said that Rohan had dismissed the report linking him to the BCCI job.
