Bumrah 200 Test Wickets: Indian pace ace Jasprit Bumrah made history by taking his 200th Test wicket, dismissing Travis Head on Day 4 of the India vs Australia Boxing Day Test in the BGT 2024-25 series, solidifying his reputation as one of the most dominant fast bowlers of all time. With his 200th Test wicket, Bumrah became the fastest Indian pacer to reach the milestone, coming in just 44 Tests.


Scalping 200 wickets in 44 Tests, Bumrah equalled cricket legends like Pat Cummins, Ravindra Jadeja, Kagiso Rabada, Richard Hadlee and Joel Garner. In terms of the balls taken to bring up the milestone, Bumrah emerges as the fourth-fastest to take 200 Test wickets, surpassing West Indian legend Malcom Marshall. Bumrah is now the bowler with the best average among those who have taken over 200 scalps, currently averaging 19.39 with 202 Test wickets.

After taking four wickets in the first innings, Bumrah achieved the landmark with his second wicket in Australia's second innings on Day 4 of the Test. He dismissed Travis Head for 1. He continued to breathe fire as he dismissed two more Australians in Mitchell Marsh and Alex Carey to claim the figures of 4-28 after his 12th over in the innings. Bumrah also stands as the highest wicket-taker in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy series, having taken 29 wickets at an exceptional average of 12.34. With that, he also became the highest wicket-taking pacer in a series for India.


Bumrah is also the highest wicket-taker in the current cycle of the World Test Championship (WTC), with 74 wickets to his name.
