The Indian team is set to face West Indies in the multi-format series, beginning from Wednesday, July 12. The two sides will battle against each other in two Tests followed by three ODIs and five T20Is from July 12. With the beginning of the Test series, both teams will also start their ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 cycle run.
The arrangement of this series will be bringing in an exciting addition in the form of veteran pacer Ishant Sharma who is set to step into the commentary box. On Sunday, as per the tastes announcement by JioCinema, Ishant will join the commentary panel, highlighting his impressive 10-wicket haul in Tests against West Indies. Sharma will be taking up the role of a Hindi commentator where he will bring in all his expertise and perspective to the viewers.
The Delhi-based speedster started playing for India at the age of 19 but was restricted to Test cricket mostly. The seasoned pacer has been struggling with his form and has not been playing international cricket for a while now. So this time despite sweating it out on the field, Sharma will be seen in the commentary box. He will start the commentary stint in the upcoming Test series against West Indies starting from 12th July.
Sharma has played 105 Tests, 80 ODIs, and 14 T20Is for India. During this career, Sharma scalped 311 wickets in Tests, while 115 and 8 wickets in limited-over formats. The Indian team recently lost the World Test Championship final against Australia and with the beginning of the Test series against the Windies, Rohit Sharma’s team will be looking to shut down their critics. So far, India played 51 Tests on the West Indies tour, out of which they tasted victory in 9, lost 16, and 26 games ended in a draw. The last time West Indies won a Test series against India was in 2002.
The Indian team will be playing their first Test match on Wednesday, July 12, at Windsor Park in Dominica.
