Regarded by many as the find of IPL 11, Afghanistan off-spinner Mujeeb-Ur-Rahman has now taken another giant step by signing for English County side Hampshire.

17-year-old Mujeeb has followed the footsteps of his countryman Rashid Khan and taken the IPL by storm on his debut season. His 14 wickets in 11 matches for Kings XI Punjab at a staggering ecomony rate of 6.99 has earned him a maiden county stint.

“Mujeeb has sort of burst onto the scene over the last six months. He’s been one of the finds of the IPL, so he comes in great form. I think he’s one of the leading bowlers in the IPL and he brings something completely different. Not a lot of guys will have faced him,” said White the director of Hampshire

Mujeeb will fly to England after the IPL commences to join the Hampshire squad for the T20 tournament.

The 17-year old has been very successful in the ODIs getting 35 wickets in 15 matches and also has 2 wickets in two T20 matches.

Apart from Mujeeb, Hampshire has also roped in New Zealand opening batsman Colin Munro, who will be available throughout the month of July.

“Colin has been very successful for New Zealand over the past couple of years, so they’re very exciting signings. Colin will play the first half of the Blast with us so he’ll be here in July, White added.
