IPL AUCTION 2019, Round 4: Overseas heavyweights remain unsold; KXIP gets Sam Curran for 7.2 Crores

BCCI CoA member Diana Edulji welcomed everyone for the auction and addresses the room in Jaipur as the IPL Auction got underway. She welcomed everyone and thanked all the teams, players and sponsors.

Basic Rules

Every franchise will make picks from the auction pool comprising a total of 351 players. Franchises minimum squad size has to be 18 and a maximum of 25. It is mandatory that every franchise spends a minimum Rs 61.5 crores out of their total purse of Rs 82 crores.

Auctions

Marquee player, South Africa’s Colin Ingram gets stunning returns for his performances in T20 leagues across the globe. The left-hander gets an IPL contract worth 6 crores 40 lakhs with the Delhi Capitals.

Overseas heavyweights Hashi Amla and Shaun Marsh remained unsold.

KS Bharat, KB Arun Karthik, Aniket Choudhary, Ishan Porel, Rajneesh Gurbani, Chama Milind, Tushar Deshpande all go unsold.

Rajasthan fast bowler Nathu Singh went to Delhi Capitals for base price of Rs 20 lakh.

After rounds of no bids, England’s Sam Curran broke the deadlock for overseas all-rounders. The 19-year-old all-rounder, who became the reason for India’s Test series loss in England was picked up for 7 crores 20 lakhs – the highest-paid overseas cricketer so far - to Kings XI Punjab.

Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore both showed interest in him but then KXIP joined in the auction at Rs 5.20 crore. He had eneterd with a base price of Rs 2 crore and was finally bought by KXIP. Luke Ronchi, Mushfiqur Rahim and Kusal Perera remained unsold.

South African wicket-keeper batsman Heinrich Klaasen found a new franchise. He moved from Royal Challengers Bangalore to Rajasthan Royals. He entered the auction with a base price of 50 lakhs.

Orange Cap holder in the opening IPL season Shaun Marsh went unsold this time. As do Saurabh Tiwary, Hashim Amla, Jimmy Neesham, Angelo Mathews, Rishi Dhawan, Corey Anderson, Parvez Rasoool, Hason Holder

New Zealand seamer Lockie Ferguson entered with base price of Rs 1 crore. KXIP and KKR both showed interested in him but finally was sold to KKR for Rs 1.60 crore.

Vinay Kumar, Kane Richardson, Abhimanyu Mithun, Morne Morkel all go unsold.

Barinder Sran had CSK and MI as interested takers. He entered with a base price of Rs 50 lakh but was bought by Mumbai Indians for Rs 3.40 Crores.
