Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday released complete schedule for the league stage of the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The new season of the cash rich star-studded league will commence from March 29 with defending champions Mumbai Indians taking on Chennai Super Kings in the season opener at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. In a first for the league since its inception almost a decade ago in 2008, IPL 2020 will have only six afternoon games.

Traditionally doubleheaders have been conducted on weekends in the IPL but in the upcoming edition, there will not be any doubleheaders on Saturdays. Thus all six afternoon games will be played on Sundays. While the BCCI is yet to confirm the schedule for the knockout stages of IPL 2020, reports have claimed that the final will be played on May 24.

The afternoon games in the IPL 2020 will begin at 4:00 PM while the night matches will start from 8:00 PM. While Mumbai Indians will lock horns with Chennai Super Kings in the opener, the final league game of the season will see Rohit Sharma & Co face Virat Kohli's Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on May 17.
