3-time champions Chennai Super Kings will once again go in as favourites to lift the Indian Premier League title despite two of their star performers in Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh pulling out from the thirteenth edition of the league which gets underway in UAE from September 19.

CSK's batting fortunes in the upcoming season will largely rest on their experienced skipper and ever dependable finisher MS Dhoni who also happens to make a comeback to competitive cricket after a year long hiatus from the sport.

Much to Chennai Super Kings delight, Dhoni is looking in superlative form with the bat going by how he is striking the ball in the net sessions. The hard hitting batsman has been smoking sixes and he was once again at it as he stepped down the track to hit a spinner for a gigantic six which saw the ball landing outside the stadium in Dubai on Thursday.

CSK team manager Russell Radhakrishnan who happened to record the net session was awe struck by the mammoth hit and enquired ..“Ball lost?”

Murali Vijay, who was completely overjoyed watching Dhoni's six hitting prowess, fielding in the long on boundary said: “Is it power Russ, is it power.”

“I don’t know, you tell me,” responded Russell. “Beautiful timing, bat speed, swing it’s gifted. Can’t do much better,” said Vijay.

Dhoni has shown glimpses of his vintage form by hitting sixes at will in both the conditioning camp at Chennai and now in Dubai where the team is stationed and practicing hard ahead of the commencement of the league

CSK will kick-start their IPL campaign in the thirteenth edition of the league by taking on defending champions Mumbai Indians in a high octane tournament opener on September 19 at Abu Dhabi. The Whistle Poddu Brigade would like to pull one back against their fierce rivals after losing the 2019 IPL final in an absolute nerve wrecking encounter at Hyderabad.
