Chennai Super Kings batsman Faf du Plessis added another accomplishment in his stellar IPL career as he scaled the 2000-run mark in IPL during CSK's match against Delhi Capitals (DC) in IPL 2020 on Friday (September 26)


Du Plessis scaled the milestone when took his 17th run off the bowling of DC leg spinner Amit Mishra, en-route his 43-run knock against Delhi Capitals in Game 7 of IPL 2020 played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Du Plessis who took 67 innings to score 2000 IPL runs became the fourth fastest overseas player to achieve the milestone in the T20 league.

Chris Gayle holds the record for being the fastest foreign player to register 2000 runs in the IPL. The hard hitting Windies opener took just 48 innings to achieve the milestone. Shaun Marsh (52) and Shane Watson (65) occupy the next two positions.

The CSK middle order batsman also became only the fourth South African player to enter the elite 2000-run club in the league after former Proteas team mates AB de Villiers (4474 runs), Jacques Kallis (2427 runs) and JP Duminy (2029 runs).

Du Plessis who is currently the Orange Cap holder in IPL 2020 with 173 runs in his kitty has been in good run scoring form for the 3-time champions CSK, notching up half centuries in games against Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals, followed by a 43-run innings against Delhi Capitals.
