Andre Russell (65 off 25) and Nitish Rana (85 not out off 46) almost pulled off the impossible in the IPL but ended up with a heartbreak after Moeen Ali succeeded to tighten the grip over the duo in the last over to seal the nail-biting encounter for the visitors as Royal Challengers Bangalore eked out a 10-run win over Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens.

With 24 needed off the last over, Russell and Rana kept the team alive till the very last over.

Thanks to this victory, Kohli-led RCB are very much alive in the tournament while Kolkata suffered their fourth defeat. Veteran fast bowler Dale Steyn, who was playing for the RCB after nine long years, was the pick among the bowlers as he removed Chris Lynn and Shubman Gill to leave KKR reeling at 33 for three in five overs.

Russell tried his best to pull off another improbable chase for KKR in the company of Nitish Rana but this time it wasn't to be.

Earlier, Virat Kohli and Moeen Ali’s fiery knocks powered Royal Challengers Bangalore to 213/4 against Kolkata Knight Riders.

Moeen Ali (28-balls 66) and Virat Kohli (58-ball 100) stitched a brilliant partnership. However, it was skipper Kohli who paced his innings brilliantly till the end to score his fifth ton in IPL. Bangalore managed to bag 91 runs off the last five overs to record their highest total of IPL 2019.

While Kohli got to his first 50 off 40 balls, on the other end, Ali gave the much needed oxygen to their innings.

RCB got the big momentum in the 16th over when Moeen struck Kuldeep for three sixes and a couple fours before finally falling. Yadav ended with figures of 1/59 in four overs.
