The cricketer turned politician has now suggested that Kerala’s Sanju Samson is currently the 'best wicketkeeper-batsman in India'. He even proposed his name for the much-talked-about No. 4 spot in India's line for the ICC mega event.
Samson, who is currently playing for the Rajasthan Royals (RR), smashed the first century of the Indian Premier League 2019. Batting against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Friday night, Samson slammed 102 off 55 balls, including 4 sixes and 10 fours.
As soon as the 24-year-old notched up the triple figures, Gambhir took to his Twitter account and showered praises on the youngster and made a huge claim regarding him.
Here’s the tweet:
Samson’s magnificent knocked, which came after Ajinkya Rahane’s blistering 70, helped the RR piling up a fighting 198-run total. While Rahane played the anchor's role, Samson opened up his arms soon and smashed two sixes in consecutive overs of Shahbaz Nadeem and Siddharth Kaul to give some momentum to Rajasthan's innings.
Samson hammered Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the death overs as the young Kerala batsman too the senior pacer to cleaners, hitting him for four boundaries and one six to pick up 24 runs from the 18th over.
As if that was not enough, Bhuvneshwar witnessed yet another forgettable day as he leaked 21 runs in the last over.
