The much-awaited 12th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to begin on Saturday where defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will lock horns with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in Chennai.
While MS Dhoni’s yellow army has been training in a full-fledged manner since March 16, Virat Kohli-led RCB have landed in the city and hit practice mode. The players of both sides had an intense training session at the MA Chidambaram stadium on Thursday.
Both the skippers met at the field during the training session and their picture is going viral on the internet.
The support staff of both teams were spotted having some discussions during the nets.
On Wednesday, CSK suffered a blow as South African paceman Lungisani Ngidi was ruled out due to an injury.
“Ngidi will be missed. We are in the process of identifying a replacement,” CSK's CEO KS Viswanathan said on the team website.
Meanwhile, veteran West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo said experience mattered a lot in T20 cricket too and it showed in the triumph last year on a comeback from a two-year ban.
Bravo also said he and the team were looking forward to playing more matches at home after the games were shifted out of the city in 2018 owing to political developments over the Cauvery river water issue.
