The third T20 international of the 5-match series between India and South Africa got abandoned due to incessant rains at the Lalabhai Contractor Stadium in Surat. The match got called off even without a single delivery being bowled. The wash out in the 3rd T20 international comes after the second encounter at the same venue also got abandoned due to incessant rains.

As per the weather forecast, rain was predicted to play spoilsport, with several spells throughout the evening. Heavy downpour just before the commencement of the match, scheduled at 7 pm, led to a delay in toss. With no signs of the skies clearing and a rain-drenched outfield at the venue, the match referee eventually made the call of calling off the match.

Hosts India are leading the five-match series 1-0 after securing a 11 run win in the opening game, while the second contest was washed out without a being bowled.

In the first match, the hosts defended a below par 130-run total on the back of a match winning spell by spinner Deepti Sharma. Sharma turned the game around for India, ending with phenomenal figures of three for eight in four overs including three maidens.

After the T20I series, India will play three-match ODI series against the same opposition. The ODI series will be played in Vadodara.
