New Delhi: Virat Kohli raced towards his 17th ton before declaring the innings to give Sri Lanka a mammoth 550 run target on Day 4 of the first Test at Galle.
The visitors declared their innings at 240 for 3.
Starting the day at 189 for 3, India added another 51 runs with the skipper duly completing a well-deserved hundred before declaring the innings.
Kohli equalled former India captain Dilip Vengsarkar's record of 17 hundreds in 116 Tests. However Kohli has reached the milestone in exactly half the number Vengsarkar took -- 58th match. The Indian skipper now has 10 hundreds as captain, only behind Gavaskar’s tally of 11 tons as captain.
