India Vs South Africa 2nd Test: India defeated South Africa by 7 wickets in the second Test of the two-match Test Series against South Africa and level the series 1-1. The second Test match played at Newlands, Cape Town has been a thorn in the back of the Indian side and India had never won at this venue acrossall formats until today, January 4.
The victory has been historic in many way as many records tumbled during this Test match but what has been the most fascinating one is that India and South Africa registered the shortest ever Test match in its entire history. India and South Africa achieved this feat by playing out all the four innings within 107 overs.
Choosing to bat first, the Proteas had a disastrous outing as they bundled out for merely 55 runs after Mohammad Siraj ran apart their batting lineup with ease. The Royal Challanegers right-arm pacer grabbed 6 wickets in the first innings as the South African batting got bowled out before Lunch on Day 1.
In reply to their dismal batting, South Africa bounced back with an early dismissal of Yashasvi Jaiswal, who has particularly seemed wobbled enough as he is not able to read the pitches at all this entire Test series. Few partnerships followed up as India were 153/4 before the unthinkable and seemingly-improbable happened.
The historic 11 deliveries followed up, producing 6 wickets for no run as India, with a lead of 98, seemed like cruising past the lead of 150, were restricted to that very particular lead. This instance was first of its kind and it lighted up the entire match but South Africa still maintained their dismal batting performance in this match and were all-out for 176, before Rohit Sharma-led side chased the target of 79 with 7 wickets in hand.
