IND vs PAK WTC Final: Pakistan succumbed to a 10-wicket defeat against Bangladesh in the first of the two Test matches at home. It was a shocking result as Pakistan had never faced a defeat to Bangladesh in Test matches before. However, they could not keep their record intact in Rawalpindi. The loss has cost the Men in Green big time in the World Test Championship (WTC) Points Table. The defeat also means that Pakistan's chances of reaching the WTC final have taken a further blow and it now looks even more difficult for Pakistan to reach the summit clash of the 2023-25 cycle of the WTC.

Having said that, as far as equation and numbers are concerned, mathematically Pakistan can still reach the final. In that case, is there a possibility of an India vs Pakistan (PAK) WTC final. Let's find out.

Notably, India are sitting at the top of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) Points Table. On the other hand, after a defeat to Bangladesh, Pakistan have slipped to the eighth place on the WTC table. As of now, India are the prime contenders to play the final while it is very tough for Pakistan as they have 2 out of 6 matches and they have a percentage of points (PCT) of 30.56.

That being said, Pakistan have to play 8 more Tests in the 2023-25 cycle. Pakistan's best bet for a place in the WTC final is them winning each of their remaining fixtures. That is not an easy task by any stretch of the imagination with series against West Indies, South Africa and England lined up next for the Shan Masood-led side.

Australia Enjoy Second Position In WTC Table

Meanwhile, Australia are sitting at the second position in the WTC points table, as things stand. India have played 9 Tests, won 6, lost 2 and drawn a match so far. Australia, on the other hand, have played 12 Test, winnng 8, losing 8 and drawing a lone fixture. Australia's PCT is 62.50 compared to India's 68.52.

India and Australia are scheduled to play a five-match series before the WTC final and that could be crucial in deciding whether it would be a repear of the 2023 WTC final where India had met Australia.
