A video has gone viral on social media featuring veteran India opener Shikhar Dhawan as he talks about the thrill and excitement whenever it comes to the cricketing showdown between arch-rivals India and Pakistan. In a video shared by Star Sports on social media, which now has been removed due to reasons unknown, Dhawan explained from the fans' perspective how for most of them it has always been about 'not losing to Pakistan', no matter if the team wins the World Cup or not.
In the coming weeks, a new chapter will be written in India-Pakistan cricket rivalry as both the teams will square off in two big ICC events Asia Cup 2023 and then ICC Men's ODI World Cup 2023 in India. Both teams will clash for the first time in months when they play their 2023 Asia Cup 2023 match on September 2 in Kandy, Sri Lanka. India vs Pakistan ODI World Cup 2023 match, for now, is slated to be played on October 15 (date likely to change).
"It has always been the case of 'Whether or not you win the World Cup, you have to beat Pakistan' (laughs). But winning the World Cup is also important and by god's grace hopefully we will. There's definitely excitement (while playing Pakistan) but also a lot of pressure. There's definitely a satisfying feeling playing against them when the match ends. Whenever I have played Pakistan, we have won mostly. The intensity on the field is also high, but there's also some light chat with them," Dhawan could be heard saying in the video.

Shikhar Dhawan's performance while playing for India against Pakistan has been brilliant. He has scored runs against Pakistan with an average of 54.28. The Indian squad for 2023 Asia Cup and ODI World Cup 2023 has not been announced yet by the BCCI but with in-form talented youngsters like Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ishan Kishan and Tilak Varma on the rise, it is highly unlikely that Dhawan gets picked for either of the tournaments.
