The 2023 edition of Asia Cup tournament is all set to commence from August 30 onwards. The continental tournament also features mother-of-all-clashes, India vs Pakistan Asia Cup 2023 match, which will be played in Sri Lanka's Pallekele on September 2. This year, Asia Cup will take place in 50-overs (One-Day-Internationals) format and the tournament will be played in a hybrid model. Four matches will be hosted by Pakistan, while the remaining nine matches will take place in Sri Lanka, including the final.


The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is yet to announce their squad for 2023 Asia Cup. As per reported by Cricbuzz, the board wants to see how Jasprit Bumrah fares in IND vs IRE 1st T20I. Other injured stars KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer, who are important for India's ODI World Cup 2023 plans, are also expected to attain full fitness ahead of Asia Cup 2023 and might get picked in India's squad for the tournament. As per reported by TOI on August 17, BCCI is expected to announce India's Asia Cup squad on August 20 (Sunday).


Harbhajan Singh picks 15-member Indian squad for 2023 Asia Cup 


Before Asia Cup 2023 action gets underway, former India spinner and 2011 World Cup winner Harbhajan Singh picked his Indian team for the continental tournament.


Tilak Varma, who recently made an outstanding debut in IND vs WI T20Is, has been picked by the veteran spinner. Suryakumar Yadav, who currently averages below 12 in nine innings, has been picked by Harbhajan for batting in the middle-order. Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal are the three spinners in Harbhajan's Asia Cup 2023 Indian team. Hardik Pandya has been picked as a fast-bowling all-rounder. 


KL Rahul, who has't played any international cricket since May 2023, has also been picked by Harbhajan. 


"He is a proven player and if you want to see him in the World Cup squad, this is the right time to bring him back," Harbhajan said.
