India’s young paceman Mohammed Siraj has returned home after being rested from the three-match ODI series against West Indies. The pacer came back alongside the rest of the Test players such as Ravichandran Ashwin, Ajinkya Rahane, KS Bharat, and Navdeep Saini. Earlier, Siraj was likely to head a pace attack including Hardik Pandya, Jaydev Unadkat, Shardul Thakur, Mukesh, and Umran Malik while Mohammed Shami remained rested. But then keeping in mind the workload management, the BCCI decided to give a rest to Siraj from the ODI series. No replacement has been named for Siraj by the board.
Going ahead, India will be playing the Asia Cup next month, followed by three-game home series against Australia in September before playing the ODI World Cup in October.
Siraj who was not added to the T20I squad for the Caribbean tour, picked up seven wickets in the two Tests, including a five-for in the first innings on a dead and slow track of Port-of-Spain court which resulted in a batting collapse for West Indies.
The last time when Siraj took part in an ODI match was against Australia in March 2022 at home where he concluded the series with five wickets, the most for India and the second most of the series.
