With the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 nearing its climax, the focus of the entire cricket community is slowly shifting towards the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024. With India set to play their first match of the marquee ICC event set on June 5 against Ireland, it is now being learnt that the majority of the Indian players will be leaving for New York on May 25.
A report carried by news agency PTI confirms that the first batch of Indian players including captain Rohit Sharma will board their flight to New York on May 25 with the rest of the Indian players in T20 World Cup 2024 squad scheduled to depart for America after the IPL 2024 final on May 26 (Sunday).

This is in contrast to the earlier plan as per which the members of the teams who did not qualify for the Playoffs but were on the Indian team for the T20 World Cup were supposed to depart on May 21. However, there now appears to be a change in plan.
"The likes of skipper Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, Arshdeep Singh, Axar Patel are some of the players along with support staff who are expected to leave on May 25," a BCCI source told PTI on the condition of anonymity.
"Earlier, departure date for first batch was May 21 but since India is playing only one warm-up game (vs Bangladesh on June 1), the players will get to spend some extra days at home," the source added.
Players From India's T20 World Cup Squad Who Will Feature In IPL 2024 Final To Leave On May 27
Meanwhile, the same PTI report goes on to confirm that only those members of the Indian contingent will leave on May 27 who will play the IPL 2024 final. The idea is to have adequate time for the members of the Indian team to reduce the jet lag and have a few net sessons before their warm-up fixture against Bangladesh.
