New Delhi: After a shock defeat to Nepal on Sunday, defending champions India were once again on the receiving end as Bangladesh chased down 188-run target with 8 wickets in hand to send India out of the U-19 Asia Cup tournament.


Having won the toss, Bangladesh opted to ball first in the rain curtailed encounter. The match was reduced to 32-over-a-side. Bangladesh restricted India to 187/8 with Salman Khan being highest run scorer for the Rahul Dravid coached Indian side with unbeaten 39 runs.


Bangladesh opening pair of Pinak Ghosh and Mohammad Naim Sheikh provided a solid start with 82-run partnership for the first wicket. Ghosh later teamed up Mohammad Tawhid Hardoy with 83-run partnership, taking the Tigers to semifinals of the prestigious tournament.


After India’s defeat, Bangladesh and Nepal will join Pakistan and Afghanistan in the semi finals of the U-19 Asia Cup.


Indian coach Rahul Dravid will have major task in hand as he prepares to build strong for the U-19 World Cup , which is scheduled in January next year.
