The BCCI on Friday, declared the squads for the West Indies tour where the Indian team will be playing two Tests, three One-Day-Internationals (ODIs), and a five-match T20 International series, starting from July 12. Young guns like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and pacer Mukesh Kumar have been added to India's Test side for the very first time while veteran players like Cheteshwar Pujara and Mohammed Shami have been dropped.
Ajinkya Rahane, who made a comeback to the Test team for the World Test Championship final, has been named the vice-captain, while Navdeep Saini is also back in the squad. While Sanju Samson and Jaydev Unadkat have been included in the 50-over squad of the Indian team.
“The Men’s Selection Committee has picked India’s squad for the upcoming two-match Test series and three ODIs against the West Indies. India are also scheduled to play five T20Is and the squad for the same will be announced later,” BCCI said in a release.
Jaiswal had a great IPL 2023 for Rajasthan Royals and he was on the selector's radar after scoring 625 runs at a strike rate of 163. The Mumbai cricketer holds an average of 80.21 in 15 matches with 9 centuries and a highest score of 265.
