The Indian Team Management has announced the names of 12 players for the first match of the three-match T20I series between India and West Indies that will be played in Kolkata's historic Eden Gardens on Sunday. While for the first T20, Shreyas Iyer, Washington Sunder, Umesh Yadav and Shahbaz Nadeem are excluded.
The Indian team is playing without the regular captain Virat Kohli and former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni in this series.
It is possible that spin all-rounder Krunal Pandya, or left-arm fast bowler Khalil Ahmed, can make their debut in this match. Khalil has proven himself by bowling brilliantly in the ODI series against the same opponents.
While Manish Pandey will take up the important responsibility in the middle order, both Dinesh Karthik and Rishabh Pant have the opportunity to make the most of the opportunity they have been given by the selectors.
