Background
IND Vs WI 2nd T20 LIVE: India and West Indies will lock horns in the second T20I of the five-match series at the Providence Stadium in Guyana on Sunday. While it was the hosts who started on a winning note, beating India by 4 runs in the series opener on Thursday (August 3), this time around India would look to level the series. Even though both sides feature some fearless and clean strikers of the cricket ball, it was a match dominated by bowlers.
West Indies batted first and posted 149/6, in response India managed 145/9 in their 20 overs. Arshdeep Singh (2/31) and Yuzvendra Chahal (2/24) were the most impressive Indian bowlers on display in the first match which was played at the Brian Lara Stadium, Tarouba, Trinidad while Hardik Pandya and Kuldeep Yadav also chipped in with a wicket each. For the hosts, captain Rovman Powell top-scored with 48 off 32 balls while wicketkeeper-batter Nicholas Pooran scored 41.
In India's run-chase, Jason Holder played the biggest spoilsport and was adjudged the Player of the Match as well, finishing with figures of 2 for 19. Romario Shepherd and Obed McCoy also picked 2 wickets apiece. With the bat, debutant Tilak Varma showed why he is such a high-rated young cricketer during his 39 off 22 but it wasn't enough to get India over the line.
The second match could be a better scoring surface if weather allows proper action between bat and ball that is. Rain could play a part and thus the team that wins the toss might look to chase with the chances of DLS getting into play.
