India tour to Sri Lanka revised schedule: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) revised the schedule for Sri Lanka tour, as announced through a social media post on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday (July 13). IND vs SL three-match ODI series has been postponed by one day. Initially, the first ODI match between India and Sri Lanka was set for August 1, but it will now take place on August 2nd.
There has been a change in the schedule for IND vs SL three-match T20I series as well. Initially set to begin on July 26, the first T20I match between India and Sri Lanka will now be played on July 27.
The likes of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Jasprit Bumrah will not be participating in Sri Lanka tour. They have been rested until the home series against Bangladesh.
India's upcoming tour to Sri Lanka marks the debut assignment for new head coach Gautam Gambhir. IND vs SL white-ball series (3 ODIs and 3 T20Is) could see the return of several long-absent players such as Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan. Shreyas Iyer, currently leading the Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL, is strongly expected to make a comeback to the national team in Sri Lanka tour.
India's squad for Sri Lanka tour is expected to be finalized next week. In Rohit Sharma's absence, KL Rahul is likely to lead the ODI team, while Hardik Pandya could take charge of the T20 setup.
