India defeated Sri Lanka by 7 wickets in their fourth and final ICC Women's T20 World Cup group fixture played at the Junction Oval at Melbourne to remain unbeaten in their group and finish on top of Group A.

After the Indian bowlers restricted Sri Lanka to 113-9, India cantered away to the below par target in 14.4 overs.

In-form opener Shafali Verma once again led the batting efforts for Indians with a typical quick-fire 47 off just 34 balls . Verma provided the opening salvo stitching a breezy 34-run partnership with fellow opener Smriti Mandhana.

After Prabodhani dismissed Mandhana, skipper Harmanpreet Kaur promoted herself up the order and scored 15 off 14 balls. After Siriwardene scalped Harmanpreet, Jemimah Rodrigues and Deepti Verma forged a run-a-ball partnership to help India coast away to the target with 5 overs to spare.

India who have already qualified for the semifinals will now play the runner-up team from Group B. Indian had beaten Australia, Bangladesh and New Zealand to become the first team to secure a berth in the last four stages of the tournament.
