Ace India bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the upcoming Test series against South Africa due to a minor stress fracture in his lower back; Umesh Yadav replaces him in the squad.

One of India's key weapons in Test squad, paceman Bumrah's exit comes as a huge blow for Virat-led Indian cricket team that has been pretty consistent in Test cricket. Team India pulled off a spectacular victory 2-0 win on overseas soil vs Windies in the recently concluded away tour. After T20I series, India will take on Proteas in first Test starting on October 2 in Visakhapatnam before the series moves to Pune and Ranchi.

India's new cutting edge weapon, Bumrah, proved to a lethal weapon in India's overseas Test wins. The 25-year-old became the first Asian pacer to take five-wicket hauls in South Africa, England, Australia and the West Indies, besides becoming the fastest Indian fast bowler to 50 Test wickets.

Board of Control for Cricket in India said in a statement,"Umesh Yadav replaces Jasprit Bumrah in India's Test squad. Jasprit Bumrah has sustained a minor stress fracture in his lower back&has been ruled out of upcoming Paytm Freedom Series for Gandhi-Mandela Trophy against South Africa".

When Asked about how he sees his recent success in Test cricket, Bumrah said that he always wanted to do well in Tests and not restrict himself to just limited-overs cricket.

“For me, Test cricket was very important and I always wanted to play Tests and didn't want to be a cricketer who has played (only) T20s and ODIs. I gave a lot of importance to Test cricket... I always wanted to make a mark in Tests,” Bumrah stated at a promotional event.
