The Indian skipper looked solid with the bat as it looked like he picked up his form from where he left off against Afghanistan, helping the Men in Blue defeat Pakistan by seven wickets. The Indian skipper Rohit Sharma played a sensational knock of 86 runs in just 63 balls and ensured India’s successful run chase against Pakistan at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday.

Rohit was also involved in a 56-run stand with Virat Kohli that came in just 42 balls. Gill also had a good start after securing his place since recovering from dengue. He ended up scoring 16 in 11 balls before falling to Shaheen Afridi. Later on, Hasan Ali removed Virat Kohli after he scored 16 runs. Apart from Rohit Sharma, Shreyas Iyer also made an unbeaten 53 runs while KL Rahul also remained not out on 19.

For Pakistan, left-arm pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi picked up two wickets while Hasan Ali took one.

Earlier, Rohit Sharma led team India won the toss and opted to bowl first. Soon the Indian bowlers proved that Rohit’s decision was right as they registered an impeccable performance with the ball, restricting Pakistan to just 191 runs.  Bowlers like Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, Mohammed Siraj, and Ravindra Jadeja scalped two wickets each as Pakistan lost eight wickets from 155/2 for just 39 runs.

Skipper Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan starred with the bat for Pakistan as they tried to revive their team’s innings in the middle. But then Mohammed Siraj and Hardik Pandya came up with two timely strikes, getting rid of the Pakistani duo. Kuldeep took the wicket of Saud Shakeel out LBW before bowling Iftikhar Ahmed around his legs. Jasprit Bumrah then decided to do the damage by picking up the wicket of Rizwan and then subsequently removed Shadab Khan in the next over. The wickets continued to fall for Pakistan and they were eventually all out for 191.
