IND vs NZ Semi-Final HIGHLIGHTS: India Beat Kiwis By 70 Runs To Enter World Cups Finals After 12 Years
IND vs NZ ODI World Cup Semifinal: The Kiwis did put up a fight in 398 chase but eventually fell short by 70 runs.
Shall We Call It A Day Then? What a game. A high-scoring contest but India eventually emerging the winners by 70 runs. As they head to the finals, there shouldn't be any doubt that they have been the best team in the tournament beating New Zealand twice in the tournament. The Black Caps lost but not without a fight, even when they chasing 398 and that tells a lot about them and the brand of cricket they played. Lots of positives for the Kiwis too as they head home but seems like Kane Williamson's career will end without an ODI World Cup trophy to his credit. For India, they are now one step away from the ulimate glory, from the "unfinished business" that Rohit Sharma talked about at the pre-tournament press conference and they seem like a Men on Mission even as they are will await the winner of the South Africa vs Australia semifinal clash to know who they face in the final. It was a pleasure of a liftime to be able to call Kohli's 50th ODI ton live and we hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did here at ABP LIVE. Thank you so much for joining us. Good night.
10th win on the bounce For India. They have avenged their 2019 semis defeat in some style.
7-wicket haul for Shami and India win by 70 runs.
RELENTLESS SHAMI! He takes number 6. Becomes just the second bowler to take a six-wicket haul for India in World Cups after Ashish Nehra in 2003.
Santner trying to play a big shot, perishes. Rohit takes the catch this time after dropping one not long ago, having been blinded by the lights. NZ- 319/8 after 47.5 Overs.
NZ- 313/7. Need 85 from 18 balls. They need 28.33 runs per over. Surely, formalities from here. Siraj and Shami should finish it from here for India.
SHAMI GETS A FIFER and Mitchell departs. That's it, that has to be the final nail in the coffin. Daryl Mitchell goes for 132 off 119. NZ- 306/7 after 45.2 Overs.
Kuldeep gets a wicket as Chapman, feeling the heat goes for the shot but finds Jadeja at the deep square leg fence. NZ- 298/6 after 43.5 Overs.

Asking Rate Nears 15th. Kiwis need 14.71 runs an over. After 43 overs, NZ- 295/5.

3 Dots To Begin With and then a single. Partnership 12 off 24, not helping their cause.
Time for Siraj To Come Back. Wide Yorker to begin with. Remember, they tried this against the Netherlands in their last league match and Siraj nails the first two he has bowled to a well-set Mitchell.
10 overs, none for 63. After 36 overs, NZ- 231/4.
Phillips FINDS A FOUR. He was 1 off 10 and this was much-needed for him and New Zealand.
Jadeja again. Bowling his final over of the spell.
Shami Delivers A 3-Run Over. Top stuff from India. Required rate at 11.60.
Breathe Easy India Fans, please. Back the Blues. The opposition is here to compete too and that was a fabulous period of play dominated by Mitchell and Williamson combined by some below par efforts from India in the field- be it the dropped catch or misfields. India right back in this now.
Two wickets in the same over from Shami then. Tom Latham departs for a 2-ball duck. NZ- 220/4 after 32.4 Overs.
Shami might have dropped Williamson but he comes back to break the 181-run stand. Williamson goes for the big shot but fails to clear the fence and it is Suryakumar Yadav stationed at the fence, who makes no mitake. NZ- 220/3 after 32.2 Overs.
100* off 85 balls for Mitchell. What a knock!
Williamson Finds The Boundary on the leg side to the end the over. That makes it 6 off it. NZ- 219/2 after 32 overs.
Jadeja starts after Drinks. Can India find a way to break the partnership?
Daryl Mitchell- 98* off 80, Kane Williamson- 64* off 70.
This is New Zealand, everyone. They have clobbered the best opposition bowler for 14 runs in an over when he was brought back to break the partnership. The smiling assasins doing what they do best. NZ- 213/2 after 31 overs.
Will this be another heartbreak for India? Surely not again. Bumrah for the second over in this spell.
Two boundaries from that Kuldeep over. Mitchell and Williamson have kept New Zealand alive in nearly a 400 chase. 30 overs bowled. NZ- 199/2 after 30 overs.
NZ- 188/2 after 29 overs. 8 off that Bumrah over.
Bumrah almost provided a breakthrough but Shami drops a sitter at mid-on. It was Williamson who had mistimed that shot but the ball just bursts through his hands. NZ- 188/2 after 29 overs.
Bumrah Is Back as India look to break the partnership.
New Zealand- 180/2 after 28 overs. They need Need 218 from 22 overs. India still seraching for a wicket.
It's Mitchell again who is the aggressor. This could still be anybody's game, make no mistake and Mitchell time and again reminding why they just can't be ruled out, as yet. They need 224 from 23 overs. Required rate 9.73. 9 off the over. NZ- 174/2 after 27 overs.
Jadeja Bowling His 7th over. The 27th of the innings.
Good over this from Kuldeep. Mitchell mistimes one but it falls way short of fielder. Then a ball that turned in the right-hander and takes the inside half but the batter survives. NZ- 165/2 after 26 overs.
50* off 58 for Williamson. This man just finds a way to be consistent and yet not be in the limelight. Tensed moment in the match. Pressure on both teams. India must break this partnership.
10 Off The Over. NZ- 161/2 after 25 overs. They need 237 runs from 25 overs.
Mitchell is ready for the one in his arc. It's pitched full by Jadeja and the batter goes for the straight six.
Jadeja to continue. Into The 25th over of the innings. Williamson approaching his fifty.
END OF OVER 23. IND- 148/2.
Fifty For Mitchell. He is keeping the Kiwis in the game with wickets in hand. He has the game to up the ante. Can prove to be the difference between India and a place in the finals.
Six in that over from Jadeja and it's Mitchell who has played one straight shot for the maximum. He is approaching a half-century. He scored a hundred in these two teams' earlier meeting in the tournament. NZ- 133/2 after 21 overs.
Spinners Bowling In Tandem at the moment. Kuldeep and Jadeja. 6 came off the 20th over bowled by Kuldeep. NZ- 124/2 after 20 overs.
Review Retained On DRS. Umpire's call. Kuldeep to Williamson for an LBW.
Literally thrashed on the up, piercing the off-side field for a four. Batters enjoying batting now. Interesting few overs coming up. This semifinal is still alive.
There's the confirmation that batting is lot easier under lights now. He has hit it straight with an extensive of a defensive shot. Beautiful from Mitchell.
Shami From The Other End. 3 overs, 2 for 15 for him.
Kuldeep Yadav comes into the attack. NZ- 87/2 after 15 overs. This is the phase in the second innings when batting gets easier. Will this duo the make the most of it? Required rate- 8.88 per over.
7 Come Off Jadeja's First. NZ- 61/2 after 12 overs.
So post those early strikes, Siraj has come back for a second spell and now it is Jadeja into the attack as Williamson and Mitchell not only have to stage a partnership but ensure they do not fall way behind in the required rate.
Daryl Mitchell In at 4.
Second one in the game for Shami. And he has removed the other opener with a peach of a delivery that takes a faint edge and goes through to the keeper. Ravindra goes for 13 off 22. NZ- 39/2 in 7.4 overs.
It's four from the bat of Williamson off the last ball of the over. Just seemed to be a push but it was superbly placed and the quick outfield meant it went to the boundary. NZ- 34/1 after 6 overs.
Kane Williamson in at 3 for New Zealand.
SHAMI STRIKES FIRST BALL! Shami comes in early and strikes first ball. KL Rahul has caught a beauty of a catch. India sense a place in the World Cup final. Conway departs for 13 off 15. NZ- 30/1 after 5.1 overs.
Bumrah Feeling The Nerves or so it seems. A wide followed by another down the leg that beats the keeper for a boundary. Three wides were delivered in the last over.
Drifting down leg this time and Ravindra flicks it for four. Superb timing on that shot. That was the only scoring shot in that over. NZ- 23/0 after 4 overs.
Conway has put away every ball in which has been offered a bit of width. Another example of that in the fifth ball of the over. Bumrah also conceded 3 wides as 7 come off the over. NZ- 19/0 after 3 overs.
Justr a boundary off the second over then. Came off an edge off Ravindra but went to third man for a fence. No second slip was in play. NZ- 12/0 after 2 overs.
Mohammed Siraj From The Other End after 8 came off the first over. NZ- 8/0 after 1 over.
Two boundaries already off the bat of Conway, in the first over itself. New Zealand are not going down without a fight for sure.
We are back with the run-chase, everyone. It's Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra who open the innings. Jasprit Bumrah with the new ball for India.
India finish at 397/4. Back to back boundaries to end the innings. That's some performance in a knockout match.l
Suryakumar Yadav goes for 1 but he had to try and go all out, that's what he did. Didn't come off. IND- 382/4 in 49.1 overs.
IND- 382/3 as India get 16 runs off that over.
Boult gets a breakthrough as Iyer falls for 105 off 70. IND- 381/3 after 48.5 overs.
And a four as Rahul digs a yorker gone slightly wrong for a boundary. Placed perfectly between point and short third.
It's KL Rahul who takes the leg side route and clears the fence to start the penultimate over with a maximum.
IND- 366/2.
Successive Hundreds For Iyer. Gets there off 67 balls. Sign of a true champion side this. Every batter has stepped up.
He moves to 99. First ball off the 48th being bowled by Southee.
3 Overs To Go. IND-354/2 after 47 overs.
350 up for India in the 47th over. Dare I say, it's come a bit late since the team slowed down a bit, but such has been their performance in this fixture.
Just 6 Off The 46th Over. IND- 347/2. Should be Boult and Southee to finish it off For Kiwis from here.
Two sixes in the over from Iyer. India get 14 off the over. IND- 341/2 after 45 overs.
KL Rahul comes in but he is standing at the other end as Iyer smashes a massive six down the ground off Ravindra to start the 45th.

END OF OVER 40. IND- 287/1. 10 off that over as Iyer found a fence off Ferguson.
Santner complets his quota. 10 overs for 49 but he fails to take a wicket. 2 off his last. Kohli looking a bit tentative ever since he has come near the 50th ODI hundred mark.
IND- 275/1 after 38 overs. 5 singles off this over bowled by Boult.
Kohli Into The 90s. He has already surpassed Tendulkar's tally of most runs in a single edition of a World Cup.

17 off The over. IND- 265/1 after 36 overs.
Four from Kohli a single, then a six down the ground and another four from Iyer. It's all come off Boult, one of the best in the world.
Against the run of play but perhaps India happy to see him through, without giving him a wicket as Santner delivers a maiden over. IND-IND- 248/1 after 35 overs. 5 overs to go in the second powerplay.
10 off the 34th then, which was bowled by Phillips. IND- 248/1 after 34 overs. Another six in that over from Iyer. What a dominating performance this. This is India's response to all the critics who had started calling them chokers in world cricket.
Wow this has been some innings. They haven't looked under pressure one bit. IND- 238/1 after 33 overs.
It's Iyer at his best. Slower ball from Southee and he hammers it over wide long-on for a maximum.
IND- 226/1 after 32 overs. Phillips who bowled the first over after the drinks break and Kohli found the fence in that over.
Boundaryu come off the bat of Kohli against Boult. That allows the Men in Blue to get 7 runs in the over. And it's DRINKS. IND- 221/1 after 31 overs. Shreyas Iyer- 21* off 18, Virat Kohli- 70* off 74. Still Southee the only wicket-taker who got rid of Rohit. Gill retired hurt with cramps.
11 runs coming off that over then, with the help of that six from Kohli. IND- 214/1 after 30 overs.
Southee Back Into The Attack. But Kohli seems to be changing gears. India look to bat out oppositon. He has come down the track and flicked it for a six on to the on side.
IND- 203/1 after 29 overs. Double the score at 30, they say. Will India then score 400 in a semifinal?

Halfway Through The Innings. After 25 overs, IND- 178/1.

Lockie Ferguson Into the Attack. Tactical change to expose Iyer's vulnerability with the short-pitched ball.
IND- 165/1. Iyer has gotten off the mark with a single off the last ball of the over.
Gill Walks Off Field. Retired Hurt with Cramps, it is being learnt. In comes Shreayas Iyer.

Phillips Continues. 2 overs for 14 before this.
IND- 153/1 after 21 overs.

IND- 150/1 at the end of the 20-over mark. Virat Kohli-26* off 34, Shubman Gill- 74* off 57.

Glenn Phillips Into The Attack. He starts off with a 6-run over. IND- 138/1 after 18 overs.
It's Gill again. This time it's short and wide and the batter waits for it before late cutting it for a boundary. 11 coming off the over, IND- 132/1.
Down the wicket and it's a SIX!! Shubman looking pleasing on the eye. 3 fifties in his last four innings but yet to score a hundred. Can he bring up one up here?
Ravindra Bowls The First over After Drinks. 3 singles off it. 50 comes up of this partnership. IND- 121/1 after 16 overs.
4 Off The Over. IND- 118/1 after 15 overs. And it's time for drinks. Virat Kohli- 16* off 17, Shubman Gill- 52* off 44. Tim Southee (1/31) off his 4 overs the only wicket-taker for the Kiwis so far. India going at 7.86 runs an over.

World Cup semifinal Half-century for Gill. Gets there off 41 balls.
Time For Rachin Ravindra to come into the attack.
A dozen coming off that over. IND- 104/1 after 13 overs. They are firmly in the driver's seat, going at 8 runs an over.
And it's a FOUR AND A SIX From Gill. As the 100 comes up for India. Superb how he has taken the role of being the aggressor post the wicket of Rohit. He moves to 48 off 38 himself.
3 Off The Over then. IND- 92/1 after 12 overs.
Santner Returns with the fielding restrictions lifted.
5 Off The Over. IND- 89/1 after 11 overs.
Another boundary from Gill as Southee bowls his fourth over. Chipped away away from mid on and mid wicket for a boundary.
New Zealand have lost a DRS, by the way. In the ninth over after Rohit got, the Kiwis went for a review against Virat Kohli for an LBW. Turns out, he got an inside edge onto it. As the ball trickled down for a four, those were Kohli's first runs.
IND- 84/1 after 10 overs. Two boundaries from the bat of Gill in that Ferguson over. That ends the powerplay and once again Rohit's innings has set the tone and tempo of the match.
Southee returns and he has a WICKET with a slower delivery. Rohit fails to time this straight down the ground but Williamson takes a superb catch running backwards. IND-71/1 after 8.2 Overs. Rohit out for 47 off 29.

Change In Bowling after IND are 61/0 from 7 overs. Lockie Ferguson comes into the attack.
It's still Boult from the other end. 3 overs for 26 so far.
Santner Goes For 11 in his first over. Belive it or not, India have learnt its lessons from the past or so it seems, so far with Rohit leading the way.
He has followed it with a six. What a knock this has been already by Rohit. It's shot and Rohit gets into the position very early to smash it for a six over deep square leg.
FIFTY UP FOR INDIA in 5.2 OVERS. Swept for four by Rohit, past the man inside the circle, was aerial but safe in the end.
Spin Early, as was being expected, given the start.
Another Good Over For India. 9 coming off it. A six and a single from Rohit and a couple to end the over from the bat of Shubman Gill. IND-47/0 after 5 overs.
It's a short-pitch ball from Boult and Rohit's love-affair for the pull continues. He has deposted it for a six into the stands at long-leg.
13 runs coming off the fourth over. IND- 38/0 after 4 overs.
FOUR AND SIX! Who else but Rohit. First a pull shot, then a flick over the fielder. Rohit dismissed the pressure talk at the press conference, he is doing the same here with his bat. This is so refreshing to see for Indian fans.
Will The Kiwis Try Spin Early given that they are off to a rapid start, courtesy majorly of Rohit? We shall find out soon.
Southee to continue from the other end then.
A six and a wide off that over then. IND- 25/0 after 3 overs.
Dances down the track for a massive six on the off side. He is not playing the reputation of the bowler or the occasion. First SIX of the match then.
Rohit Vs Boult Again then. First over, Rohit was the winner. Can he continue the same this over?
8 coming off the second over. IND- 18/0.
First a half-volley on the leg side which got the treatment it deserved with a boundary on the leg-side and then a bit of luck going India's way as an inside edge goes past the stumps for a boundary.
Tim Southee From The Other End. Gill yet to face his first ball, on strike.
BACK TO BACK FOURS!!!! The Hitman is not going to change the way he has been playing. First an uppish shot on the leg side before a cover drive, both finding boundaries. Aggressive start from India. IND- 10/0 after 1st the over.
That should settle some nerves, for Rohit, for the fans as well. First ball, coming in and he flicks it for a couple.
National anthems are done and the Indian openers are out. It's Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill. Left-arm pacer Trent Boult to start the proceedings for the Kiwis. Rohit vs Boult then. What a contest!
Forget the players, there are some nerves here and to everyone I have had interactions with regarding this game. Massive, massive game this- a repeat of the 2019 semis where the Kiwis had the last laugh. New Zealand played won both their last two semifinals in World Cups 2015 and 2019 before losing the final. On the other hand, India were eliminated from this very stage in their previous two appearances.

Background
IND vs NZ World Cup Semifinal Live Score: Hello and welcome to live coverage of India vs New Zealand Cricket World Cup 2023 semifinal match at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium, Maharashtra. In the first ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 semifinal at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium, Team India led by Rohit Sharma face off against New Zealand on November 15 (Wednesday). India, topping the Points Table with an unbeaten streak of nine wins, aim to continue their dominant form for a fourth World Cup final appearance.
Contrastingly, New Zealand struggled after a good start into the tournament with four consecutive losses but clinched a spot in the knockouts after a crucial win against Sri Lanka. India secured a convincing victory over New Zealand in their recent encounter in Dharamsala. This match marks their fifth showdown in men's ODIs this year, with India winning all previous four clashes in 2023. However, before this streak, the Black Caps had won five matches against India.
The pitch at the Wankhede Stadium is known for its balance and is expected to remain consistent throughout the match. Over the last ten matches at this venue, the average score in the first innings has been 318.
However in this World Cup, teams batting first have capitalised more on power plays compared to teams batting second. The first powerplay aggregate score for teams batting first is 209, with only five wickets lost, while for teams batting second, it's 168 with 17 wickets lost. Therefore, winning the toss might prompt the captain to choose batting first. Pace bowlers have been significantly more successful at this venue, accounting for 83% of the total wickets taken.
The weather at the Wankhede Stadium during the day is expected to be around 32 degrees Celsius with 86% cloud cover. At night, the temperature drops to 16 degrees with cloud cover reducing to 18%. Rain is not expected during the day, but pacers will aim to exploit the cloudy conditions to secure early wickets.
