India will take on England in their third Group B encounter in the Women's T20 World Cup on Saturday at the St George's Park, Gqeberha. India have had an unbeaten run in the tournament so far, winning each of their two matches against Pakistan and West Indies. However, in both the matches the team had to chase down a total.
Much like India, England too are yet to face a defeat in the competition so far and have registered wins over West Indies and Ireland, both of them also coming while chasing. It would be interesting to see how the team which chases in this face off for the first time in this tournament performs.
As far as the head-to-head record is concerned, England Women boast of a superior record against India. The two teams have come up against one another a total of 26 times in which the Three Lions have emerged victorious 19 times while India have come out on top a total of 7 times. Having said that, India can beat any opposition on a given day and a defeat to them in the first semifinal of the Commonwealth Games 2022 would be fresh in the minds of the England side.
IND vs ENG Fantasy Tips:
Prior to the match which could go on to decide who tops Group B, here is a look at the players which one could choose for a Fantasy 11 of this Women's T20 World Cup 2023 fixture.
Wicketkeepers:
Richa Ghosh becomes a crucial part of this Fantasy 11. It would be a bold pick to omit her. Not only has she been in good form with the bat, having two solid knocks under her belt in the first two matches but she has been fetching points with her glovework as well. She should definitely feature in the Fantasy side. England's Amy Jones can be considered but she bats lower down the order and might not get as many balls to make a difference.
Batters:
Shafali Verma, Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur from Team India are the first names from the batter's section that one could consider while making a Fantasy XI as two of them are openers and have been a phenomenal run-scoring pair of the team. Harmanpreet, meanwhile, is perhaps the biggest hitter in that team and also fields in important positions much like Mandhana, increasing their likelihood of fetching more points.
From England, top order batters should be considered given they get a chance to face maximum number of balls which means Danni Wyatt and Sophia Dunkley would definitely be in contention.
Heather Knight, England skipper and Jemimah Rodrigues are other batters who could be considered.
All-rounders:
This is most important segment of the fantasy team as multi-skilled players can fetch more points to a Fantasy player than a single-skilled cricketer. Hard to look beyond Deepti Sharma and Nat Sciver from India and England respectively. Alice Capsey and Pooja Vastrakar are some of the other names who can be selected given their form in the ongoing tournament.
Bowlers:
The world's number 1 T20I bowler will feature in this match and on surfaces which are offering a bit of assistance to the slower bowlers, Sophie Ecclestone could prove to be more than a handy pick in the Fantasy side. Sarah Glenn has also been in fine form for England in this competition. For India, Renuka Singh Thakur and Radha Yadav can be considered among the bowlers.
