It did not exactly go as per the plan for India on Day 3 of their Test series opener against England at the Rajiv Gnadhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Saturday (January 27). While India could only add 15 more runs to their overnight score and were bundled out for 436 in the first innings, post that England managed to bounce back strongly in the second innings. After a good start and then losing their way in the middle, at Stumps on Day 3, the Three Lions were leading by 126 runs.
England find themselves in a good position, mainly because of Ollie Pope'e splendid hundred who will resume batting on 148*. However, they were helped by a few fielding lapses from India too with Axar Patel dropping Pope in the latter half of the day. However, probably the most comical one came in the 50th over of England's second innings. Pope was the batter and he hit a well-timed sweep and even though both Ravichandran Ashwin and Rajat Patidar went after the ball, eventually the two assumed that it will be the other fielder who will go for it, resulting in a boundary for England and Pope.

Jasprit Bumrah Pick Of The Bowlers For India In Second Innings So Far
Interestingly while there were all the talks of this being a spin-friendly wicket, India's pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah led India's fightback after England had reached 113/1 at one stage and looking really threatening. Bumrah's double-strike then, removing Ben Duckett and Joe Root in quick succession opened a door for the hosts after which spinners capitalised to make the scorecard 163/5. Pope and Ben Foakes then had a 112-run partnership which was broken by Axar Patel. Rehan Ahmed (16*) and Pope will resume the England innings on Day 4.
